Student Internship for 2013/2014
We are no longer accepting practicum applications. Our next intake of practicum applications shall be March 2014. Thank you to everyone who has expressed interest in completing a practicum placement in our counseling program at Options Community Services.
About Practicum Placements
We are very fortunate to be able to accommodate practicum students into our three program areas when time and space allows. For students interested in a placement with the Counselling Services programs, thumb please familiarize yourself with our three areas of counselling focus: Family Counselling; information pills Education and Counselling” href=”http://www.scss.ca/counselling/suicide-prevention-education-and-counselling”>Suicide Prevention; and Sexual Abuse Counselling.
We have found that most students prefer to work in the Family Counselling program as it offers the most range of issues, pharmacy ages of clientele and is a short-term counselling program. The Suicide Prevention program (SPEAC) serves children and youth, is outreach based, and is a short-term counselling program. Students interested in a placement with SPEAC must have a vehicle.
Note: Our ability to provide practicum students is contingent upon our capacity to provide clinical supervision, office space and the overall time commitment.
At times, we may be unable to accomodate students.
How to Apply
Please apply only when we are accepting practicum placement applications. When applying, please submit a cover letter and resume outling your experience and goals, practicum needs (including start date, number of hours per week, etc.), and program preference.
Note: Due to the high number of applications that we receive each year, we may not be able to respond in person to each request/inquiry. You will receive a letter from us confirming whether or not we will be setting an interview meeting.
Thank you for your understanding.
